Jim signed on Friday before the SPL season began and the 26 year old went straight into the starting line up against Kilmarnock, only a couple of hours after meeting his new team mates for the first time.
Jim is a versatile midfielder/defender who started his career with Morton ten years ago and featured over 200 times for the Cappielow side. He helped them climb the divisions from the 3rd to become a stable 1st Division club in his eight years with them.
In 2009, he joined Hamilton Accies in the SPL. Jim spent two seasons with the club. After leaving in the summer of 2012, he spent time on trial with Carlisle United and training with old club Morton before signing for Dundee on the eve of the SPL season.
Jim impressed through the 2012/13 season and eventually swept up at the club's Player of the Year award night at the end of the season.
He found the net for the first time for The Dee against his ex club Morton in the Scottish Cup. His next goal also came in the Scottish Cup, a goal against Dundee United.
Jim played a major part under new manager John Brown as Dundee almost turned their season around to avoid relegation. He scored against both St. Mirren and Aberdeen in the run in.
During the summer, with a number of SPL clubs reportedly interested, Jim agreed a deal to stay at Dens.
