The Dundee FC Supporters’ Society board met prior to Saturday’s game at Stirling Albion. High on the agenda was the nomination of a director to the club board, and the Society are delighted to announce that Fraser MacDonald will be appointed.
In order to take up the post, Fraser has stepped down as Society Secretary, and Graham Smith has taken over the role on an interim basis ahead of the forthcoming AGM.
Fraser has over 15 years’ experience in a number of international marketing roles with major Japanese and American firms including Canon, NEC and currently with Dell. Dundee born and raised, he has spent many years working down south, after graduating from EM Strasbourg management school in France.
Fraser said "It's an honour to be appointed to the club board as a representative of the Supporters' Society. Over the last 10 years I've served on the DSA committee and the Society board and obviously a lot has happened over that time. The fans have never before had so much involvement in how their club is run - something that's true at an increasing number of clubs - and I'm happy to keep contributing to that in this new role."
And while he is stepping down as Chief Executive, Harry MacLean has accepted an invitation to rejoin the board in a non-executive role. Harry said “There have been many positive discussions in recent weeks and I was delighted to be offered the chance to re-join the Board and help our Club move forward. There are exciting challenges ahead not least of which is the financial well being of Dundee Football Club in an extremely challenging economic environment. The Board now has all the ingredients required to press on and secure the Club's future, one which I have always believed needed to be stable and in partnership with all who want to help the Club. We can only progress where everyone is working towards the same goals with all inclusive plans where all help is accepted.”
The club board is scheduled to meet tonight but stressed that there would be no rush to make a decision regarding the appointment of a new chairman.
