Dens youngster Kevin McDonald is one of five nominated players in contention for the Professional Footballers Association Scotland Young Player of the Year, he’s joined on the list of nominees by by Falkirk midfielder Scott Arfield, Hibernian forward Steven Fletcher, Motherwell striker Ross McCormack and Celtic winger Aiden McGeady.
All of those players bar McGeady are
team-mates of Kevin in the Scotland Under 21 squad, and National
Under 21 boss Billy Stark was at Cappielow on Saturday to see
McDonald play his part in Dundee’s vital win over Morton.
It’s further recognition for Kevin
who has won two IRN BRU PHENOMENAL Scottish Football League Young
Player of the Month awards this season.
Every footballer affiliated to the
Professional Footballers’ Association Scotland is eligible to vote,
and the winners of the Young Player and Player of the Year awards
will be announced on 20 April.
Kevin turned 19 just a few months ago
but this is already the third season that he has been a
regular in the Dark Blues’ starting eleven.
Tall, strong and
skilful, Kevin is one of the most promising youngsters in Scottish
football and has become a regular member of Scotland’s under 21
side. He extended his contract at the club, signing on the
dotted line just minutes after scoring a last minute winner against
Partick Thistle.
