St. Johnstone Preview

Dundee are back in action after the international break as they head for Perth looking to extend their seven game unbeaten start to the season.

They’ll face a tough task to do that as they face the Scottish FA Cup winners, who have also had a healthy start to the 2014-15 campaign.

The Dark Blues last action was in the live TV game against Celtic at Dens when they had chances to win during a fine performance against the SPFL Premiership champions. James McPake’s first goal for the club giving Dundee an early lead before former Dee Leigh Griffiths’ deflected shot earned the Hoops a point.

The most recent road trip for Paul Hartley’s men, at St Mirren, saw them pick up their first full points of the season thanks to Peter MacDonald’s fine finish.

Hosts St Johnstone have won three and lost two in their five Premiership matches so far, new boy Brian Graham, on loan from Dundee United, scoring on his debut at Fir Park in their last game as Tommy Wright’s side made it two wins in a row.

THE SQUAD

Paul Hartley will be without Willie Dyer, Peter MacDonald and Kevin Thomson for the trip to Perth. The trio will miss out due to injury.

NEW BOY

David Clarkson will hope to be involved, the former Motherwell, Bristol Rovers and Scotland striker joined up at Dens on Monday and made his first appearance in Dark Blue during the SPFL Development League defeat to Celtic at Cappielow on Tuesday night.

LAST TIME

Our last visit to McDiarmid Park came on 2nd January 2013 and it ended with a 1-0 defeat, Liam Craig scoring Saints winner.
Gary Irvine and Jim McAlister started that game and also our most recent game against Celtic, while current squad members Iain Davidson, Nicky Riley and Kevin McBride were involved on that day 21 months ago.

OPPOSITION DANGER MAN

Brian Easton has switched sides since the last league meeting of the clubs and has become a key member of the Perth line-up since his move along the Tay. The left back/left midfielder was a popular figure during his spell at Dens and will be one to watch on Saturday.
