| Whata difference a year makes. Last year we were so together and Barry was up for a knighthood. Now we are divided and the knives may not be out for Barry but the worry has started to creep back in. I dont like comments about real supporters because real supporters are entitled to their view, and mine is that we got some decent players coming to the end of their careers who were bound together last year in a mamoth task and who perhaps played a bit out of their skin and who another year has apassed and they did not quite reach the same heights. Do we have to be patient- of course we do but we do expect things to improve - and please not the old chesnut that we are lucky to have a club to support etc etc. All the fans want is a team that looks as if it is progressing and all playing hard for the jersey. Not the image of DFC over the last couple of months I am afraid. |

Disagree Watching him on the sidelines, he is active when it is required. What he is not, is an idiot who will be sent to the stand when we need him, and he is totally respectful of others when he speaks, unlike some people we can think of. Do you honestly think the team performed as they did last year with a totally boring orator? Barry has it right. |

I was in the main stand at Ayr yesterday, right behind Barry's dugout and I can assure you that Barry was certainly not quiet. He was giving the players both encouragement and haranguing them when this were going wrong. |

1, I believe we're getting that. And I view it over a season not just a few months.
2, However if we are doing this then the loss of Riley and Rae highlighted just how wafer thin the playing squad was and is!
3, 2nd place is an improvement on last year that said we're a proverbial mile behind Ross County.
3, Why? Is it because they've a larger more competitive squad, a quality chairman with significant capital to lend prudently, experienced Mgt/Board, good players on longer than 1 year contracts. Ross County also have had no off field controversy this season, we've had cash flow issues, share issues, share dilution issues, two CEO's and Board changes.
4, And from a player's perspective they might be thinking that the fans have short memories, last year we all combined to save the club, this season when all know that the team has been weakened, they expect same if not better? |

A lot of people may not agree with me but I think that the problems with the counting of ballot papers collected after the closing date did not help matters. The unrest amongst fans probably filtered down to the dressing room. The players could not avoid reading or hearing about it as it was splashed over the newspapers, tv and radio. If I was a player in the Dundee first team I would be thinking do the fans really want promotion out of this league or do they want to still hold a controlling share in the club not matter what division they are in. |

Last season Barrys body langauge was more behind the team and is not the same this season. I watch him often on the sideline to see if he is away to make changes etc and hardly ever see what people are saying im missing.
Regarding the other post about Alex Ferguson, he does sit in the dugout when things are going well but as soon as someone does something that he is not happy with he lets them know all about it, he hurries to the touchline and can be seen on numerous occassions giving players pelters as well as officials.
Barry Smith was a legend on the park for us and I hope he can be as our manager too |
