youanjack.
I was at the last Dundee Seniors Supporters club meeting where Jocky Scott and Gordon Wallace did an excellent Q and A session.
Jocky was asked if players were coached to pass the ball instead of shooting. He replied that it greatly frustrated him when players preferred to pass rather than try to score. He further explained that once the attacking player reached the final third of the pitch he was expected to run in on goal and try to score. Unfortunately this does not always happen but managers and coaches were not to blame.

Maybe Jocky said something along those lines, but I can't believe those were his actual words.
Once the attacking player is in the final third (or any third actually) of the pitch, he should be looking at best options and opportunities available, and not just running in on goal.

"Or it could be he is just a utility benchwarmer who doesnt command too high a salary."

Totally unwarrented criticism of a former DFC player, who has been a first choice for the Blades in 2012. Perhaps
had Kevin been fit for the final the end result may have been different. I just wish that we had a similar calibre
of player in the team at present.

Im not criticising Kevin at all - in fact I've got great respect for him as a person and as a footballer. I wish him only good things in his careeer.
The point I was making is, that it isnt always a 'given' as a sign of a great career move when you are kept on at a club who are releasing high-earners. It could be you are kept on because you are a utility player in the squad and that you dont earn such a high salary. Hence, the benchwarmer remark.

The "Gary Kenneth" story in the "Tully" stated that Kev had left Sheffield United. Checking United's Official Web Site will show that Kevin is one of 3 players offered fresh terms for next season. I assume therefore he is still at Sheffield. Can anyone confirm this ?

I live in leeds and know a lot of blade fans. And they all said that he was the best player all season and he gave most assists all season and most times when the blades lost big kevin was injured. Currently he has not signed for them as he said he would re-sign only if an epl side did not come after him.

Sheffield United midfielder Kevin McDonald is hopeful of being able to come to an agreement with the club over a new deal.

The 23-year-old midfielder is out of contract at the end of this month.

He told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I'd like to say I'm fully confident of being back next season but I'm not in a position to do so at present.

"I want to get it sorted out soon and if they offer me the right deal I'd be delighted to sign."

He added: "My agent has been speaking to the club a couple of times a week and we're waiting to hear back from them.

"No one else has made me an offer."

Update...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18802538

Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson is still unsure about the futures of Lee Williamson and Kevin McDonald.

"I'm disappointed that Kevin hasn't come back in for training but I've spoken to him and it's his prerogative to look around when he's a free agent."

The Blades are yet to secure their first summer signing and Wilson admitted that he still did not know the budget he would be operating with next season but it would be less that last campaign.
