with only one home game left to us, this season of "transition" has gone as well as expected in my humble opinion, True it has been disappointing that a number of performances didnt quite reach the mark but with the players we lost in the close season it was always going to be a struggle, second place was better than we could have hoped for after the terrible start that we had sitting bottom of the table without any penelty point reductions.
So next season what can we hope for? Dunfermiline coming down with money worries and loosing their better players, Falkirk selling their top goal scorer and us signing some/any decent players and being able to hold onto our better players. I think next season will show us what calibre of manager Barry Smith really is. His first season was a backs to the wall heroic effort by all season and this one not so good but not too bad- next season he has to deliver and I dont just mean getting promoted. We have to be competitive in all matches and keep going all season long, not win a few loose a few as we have done this year.
As a true fan I am ever optomistic that we can progress and hope that we put on a good show against Livingston to finish the season on a high and to keep us all hoping and praying for next season
regarding Dunfermline it will be interesting to see if their private investors take a one year gamble and finance players needed to get back up. It wouldnt take too much of a leap I think from what we have seen of standards this season in the first although their debts are pretty bad (£10m+?)
