I think that the day of the 1967 final - when we beat Rangers - was also when Scotland beat the supposed world champions 3-2 at Wembley. I remember a big crowd on a sunny day with trannies on all around!

I have in my possession a runners-up medal for this competition won by my great uncle when playing for Clyde pre WW1. It's hallmarkied gold with enamelling and his name engraved upon it.
Remember that Rangers match, we beat them 4-1 and Hammy and Davie Wilson were given a ticking of by the ref. for chatting with fans and asking the Scotland score, from memory there was over 6000 there that day
I sent an email to the SFA asking what happened to the Scottish Second Eleven Cup and today I received a reply from David Stephen of The Scottish Football Museum who advised that it was last played for in season 1987-88 and won by Dundee United who still retain the trophy. The competition then went into abeyance. He also said that sources at the SFA and SFL said the clubs were finding it difficult at that time to find dates to play the ties. I thank him for his information I suggested that as there was now no SPL or SFL reserve leagues this would be a good time for the SFA to restart the competition.
My personal opinion is that we should ditch the Under 19 league and go back to a proper Reserve League structure. That way, injured players coming back can get games, as well as nurture the emerging talent at the club, like Leighton McIntosh and Jamie Reid.
