Just back from tonight's 62 dinner, one of the best nights I've had at a DFC dinner and been to a few.
Craig Brown spend a few minutes remembering Alex Hamilton and we even had him singing along to Hammy and his hamsters. He even had a few digs at the Aberdeen players.
Tam was his normal self with even a few new jokes!!
Jim Duffy kept the night going throughout the evening and interviewed some of the 62 guys, with Gilzean and Seith being most notable.
The evening raised a few quid with the 4ft signed Bobby Cox picture going for a great £5,000.
Roll on next weeks players dinner at the Hilton.

Seconded. Well worth the £62 and I didn't think i would be saying that beforehand. Special thanks to all those behind the scenes for organising this great event and producing such a great programme to accompany the proceedings.

Craig Brown was excellent and nothing like the dour persona interviewed on TV. Some great stories from him. Patrick Barclay wore his heart on his sleeve and said it was great the DFC had once relegated Ferguson.

A lot of mony raised on the night and although we wont be able to buy Messi it will hopefully help the manager strengthen the side for next season.

A truly great night and one that will stay in my memory for ever.
Thanks to everyone who organised the event and to the speakers and the '62 team. A lovely group of men who are very humble - modern players could do with some of that!
Jim Duffy was an excellent MC and Craig Brown was the standout speaker - very funny and some brilliant tales of Bob Shankly and the special team.
It was also great to hear Bobby Wishart, Ian Ure, Bob Seith and Gillie all recall what it was like to be part of that fantastic team.
A very emotional evening - makes you proud to be a Dee.

Huge thanks to all who worked so hard for many months to make the evening at the Caird Hall the success that it was.
So many highlights I wouln't know where to begin.
Special mention to the M.C. Jim Duffy who performed miracles in keeping the 600 plus audience in reasonable order!!!!!

Now over to you Barry.....the Dundee "Family" is firmly behind you......

Superb night, brilliantly organised. My thanks to all concerned.I was fortunate enough to attend the dinner with the team on that memorable April night in'62 in the old Royal British Hotel, and now 50 years on all these memories were rekindled. The entire evening could not have been bettered, and this was indeed a night to remember. ---- Ray Stern

Fantastic night had by all. The humility of the remaining team members is something to cherish, they had a word for everyone and must have signed hundreds of autographs. It was a privelige to be in such company. The speakers were excellent and Craig Brown clearly demonstrated that he still has a real affection for our great club. The interviews with Gilzean, Seith, Wishart and Ure,you could write a song about them :-), were marvellous and you get the feeling that Gillie is overwhelmed by the affection in which he is held.

We'll probably never see a team of such stature gracing the Dark Blue again but how humbling it was to be in the same room as such true legends.

A fantastic night, and great seats , on the stage, very nice people sitting across from the Taylor family from strathearn road and also the falconers, my old friend from years back Norrie Price who has since written various books on Dundee fc.

The catering was good and bar service excellent, and superb chanting and generous applause from everybody as every body was given their place made one so proud, I never made it to that famous game, but I always remember running all the way to pick up that famous sporting post from Annie butchers shop, as dad had not returned from Muirton,!!

All these memories returned last night as we toasted our the evening,

Absolute pleasure to speak to and photograph these gentlemen (that's what they are) - got a chat with some of their wifes and kids and they told me some great stories - Pat's grandson belting out Dundee songs in a Yorkshire accent won't be easily forgotten - some of the families were in tears when their dad/husband went up to get their memento of the occasion - absolutely delighted that the fringe players and Lawrie Smith got or will get their medals and they didn't know a thing about it until it was announced.

I was nearly crying myself when Gillie spoke of that era - whole hall was in awe of the great man.

Very, very proud to be a supporter of this great club.

One of the posters on Dundee-Mad commented that apart from playing for the team I've got the best job in the world documenting in pictures our club - It's not my real job but I had to agree.

Agree with the previous post's, this has to be one of the best evening's any Dundee Fan could have asked or wished for, found it quiet emotional looking at the stage and watching the videos.

Legend's is a word often used without fore thought or consideration, however, on this occasion Legend's is an understatement, the guys on stage last night along with the ones no longer with us can take great pride in giving us a piece of history no one can take away and one to be proud of.

The humility was extraordinary and like a previous poster said Gillie looked overwhelmed, it really was a fitting tribute to a truly wonderful team, the interviews and the night will live long in my memory.

I for one would like to say a big thank you to all who made it possible, to the people who were working tirelessly throughout the night, the catering & waiting staff, to Jim Duffy who worked hard as compère, speakers Tam Cowan & Patrick Barclay.

Forever Blue, Dark Blue

As a footnote, how about a DVD of the evening?
