| Never knew him but saw his picture earlier and instantly recognised him from Dens (and the bunnet). Sad stuff. R.I.P. |

This is a particularly tragic and very sad story.
But let's also not forget there are lots of familys who have lost loved ones over the years that were big Dundee fans which won't be covered in the news. |

The board of directors met tonight and wish to pass on their sincere condolences to the friends and family of Dundee fan John Kennedy.
One of our very own, a well kent face, will be sadly missed by everyone at Dens Park.
In all our thoughts at this very sad time. |

| I begin to wonder about this thread. Are the not so well known faces that pass through dens not worth a mention also. I mean no disrespect to Mr Kennedy but it is becoming a place for the well kent to have their friends speak about them but what about the others as Darkbloo says. I suggest that in future we leave this site to cover football matters not condolences for dead fans. |

Agreed, however, hopefully these families have not lost loved ones under these shocking circumstances.
My late dad was a dyed in the wool Dark Blue and recently passed away unexpectedly, I am sure John's family would not have wanted him to have died under such horrifying circumstances. |

| Fao darkbloo and Euan I find your comments very disrespectful about other posts, we aren't talking about reduced price's and you've already bought a season ticket!!!! This was a lifelong Dee that was tragically murdered, I think it is a perfect place for people who knew Jon or didn't but recognized him from Dundee game's. I personally had been in his company a couple of times and a nicer man you couldn't meet, RIP Jon watching from the high stand!!!!! Forza Dundee |

| Big G we are entitled to our opinion. I specifically said I meant no disrespect to Mr Kennedy, nor did I intend any to anyone who has lost a loved one who was a Dundee Fan. I simply wonder if everytime a Dundee Fan dies somone posts it on here and we have a thread, becuase no one is going to ask about it. I think there are other avenues to remember lost loved oens and friends. There are thousands of fans out there and surely we cant cover them all. I will respectfully say no more on this thread |

Would you like to explain precisely what you find disrespectful in my comments?
I did not make the comments that Euan made so don't put words in my mouth and add 2 plus 2 to get 5.
I've no problem at all with these threads, just making the point in reply to Stephen that there are other 'good' Dundee fans that may have died recently, not just the 4 Stephen knows about. I know one myself. |

This forum is getting worse. Having discussions on every point under the sun..even about who should or should not get a mention when they die!
fao Darkblo and Euan: Another time on another post..you can put your views across. Use a bit of common sense lads. This post isnt open to discussions - even though this is a forum. |

| Mike, I would leave it to the moderator to delete any inappropriate posts. I think I have a right to reply if someone accuses me of being disrespectful to a murder victim when I wasn't, but if the thread is turning into this then maybe it is better deleted and lets leave the club's statement on the front page instead. |

| RIP John I remember speaking with you a few seasons ago couldn't meet a nicer guy and where better for fellow dee's to remember one of our own than on a forum. I do though despair at some of the posts on here shame on you. |

This is an extremely sad story and it must be a very tough time for his family.
But can posters not just put their own comment on without throwing around accusations of disrespect and shame on others on what is DFC's public football forum, it really is embarrassing.

I started the topic as John was a well known face around Dens, I would say it is up to individuals if they wish to post about someone's passing, and then up to others if they wish to pass on their condolences or comments, if a topic/post is inappropriate then I'm sure it would be removed.
This Dundee fan did not just pass away due to natural causes, but was brutally murdered!
One of the reason's for the post was to highlight John's murder, you never know, maybe someone reading it could have information useful to the Police, this was a particularly brutal and horrific murder and if the person/s responsible are caught through a post on a football forum, I for one would certainly be happy that the topic was left open! |

I'm embarrassed for you. I can only hope that you now regret the above post and accept any criticism with good grace.
I've never met Mr Kennedy but if people see fit to pass on their condolences via the official DFC Website, it's surely not up to you to question that. This is a forum where people who care about all matters relating to Dundee FC can air their feelings and the arrogance you display in the final sentence of your post is astounding.
No one is forcing you to read "condolences for dead fans" so I would respectfully suggest that you don't bother doing so and keep your pointless views on the subject to yourself.
RIP John Kennedy

| I for one think that any Dundee fan who passes away is entitled to be remembered fondly on this site as we are all the life blood of this club and I for one am always sad to here off any Dees death be it player back room staff or fan.On this kind of subject it is not the time to be negative it's time to reflect and show some humility to your fellow departed fellow fans. |

| I didn't know John either but I did recognise the bunnet, so my condolences go out to his family and friends at their loss. |

I knew John from going on his bus sometimes and he was a really nice guy. I was horrified when I heard he'd been murdered. Hopefully the police have caught the boy that did it.
RIP John |
