| I find this astonishing. At best, a hard working midfield battler with very limited ability. At worst, a discipline liability. He was not deemed good enough while at Inverness or Hearts, but now that he has signed for Rangers, playing in the fourth tier of Scottish football, he is suddenly International material. Quite incredible. He didn't even make an impact against Peterhead on Saturday, so how he is expected to compete against top class players is beyond me. In my eyes Craig Levein had already lost all credibility with his previous selections and tactics, but now this latest decision leaves him as a laughing stock, who appears to be already trying to hang onto his job by pandering to the west coast tabloid gutter football press. I am a big Scotland fan. I have already bought my season ticket for all five home world cup qualifiers and I'm going to Cardiff and Brussels in October. Our reputation as a football nation is already at a low ebb. Sadly, under Levein, I fear we have some way to drop yet. |

| Scots joey Barton without the talent. According to Peter Houston had great season last year but could not get into a single Levien squad, movers from Spl to third and suddenly into Scots squad, why? Oh wait he's playing for The Rangers, nuff said |

| The strange thing is that when Levein was asked why Wallace wasn't in the squad he said "It is very difficult for anyone playing in the Third Division in Scotland to be up to the speed of an international match." So why Black but not Wallace? Although I notice Houston has now jumped to his boss' defence by saying that the previous statement has been "misconstrued". In what way? You can either play for Scotland while in the Third Division or you can't (for the record, I'm of the opinion that you can't). |

| This is why Scotland will never qualify for any world cups. Seen it all before . Player playing brilliantly for their club for 2 or 3 seasons and never getting a sniff of a Scotland cap. Rangers buy the player for peanuts and suddenly he's international class and worth 10 times what they paid for him. The game in this country is corrupt. |

| As if Scottish footballs reputation wasn't tarnished enough, we have this happening now. I'm sorry, but Levein is a joke. Only in Scotland would we be calling up players from the 4th tier of our leagues. |

| I really don`t have a big problem with Levein picking a player from the 1st,2nd or even the 3rd divisions. What I do have a problem with is that if Levein thinks that Ian Black is good enough to play for Scotland then heaven help us when we play a competitive match for the Euro qualifiers. |

I've had enough of Levein. This oncoming campaign I don't mind if Scotland don't get through. I might find myself supporting Belgium & Serbia over Scoland at points.
Dundee over Scotland until Levein is out. |

| It was the same with Rab Douglas. Never a sniff of a Scotland cap until he signed for Celtic then he was immediately drafted into the squad. The SFA demand that a certain amount of Celtic and Rangers players are in Scotland squads as they mistakenly believe they need them there to get a crowd at Hampden. Every Scotland boss has had his hands tied in this way. Bobby Cox would have had over fifty caps if he had played for either of the Old Firm. This call up for Black is an absolute disgrace! |

The thing is this takes the above to a whole new level. What Mickey says is spot on for what has happened umpteen times in the past, but we now have players who weren't good enough for a Scotland cap with playing for a non-Old Firm club in the SPL, dropping down to the 3rd Division and suddenly being good enough, just because it's Rangers!!
I said it on another post and I'll say it again - Swankie for Scotland!!! |

Gary Caldwell is quoted in today's Courier stating that players such as Black and Wallace were playing in the Premier League (SPL) two months ago and they are not Third Division players. Gary Caldwell who, in my opinion would not have been picked for Scotland if he had not played for Celtic seems to forget that Black was not selected for the Scotland team when he played for ICT and Hearts in the SPL. |

Steady on there, boys!
OK. Levein is a bit of an end but it is Scotland and we are supposed to suffer.
All this stuff about supporting the opposition - well that's just "Old Firm Talk". |

Levein tried to make the excuse that Black was booed because he was a former Hearts player playing at Easter Road. Judging by the torrent of boos heard on television either the ground was full of Hearts supporters or a lot of Scotland supporters were unhappy about Black's selection. As Darbloo says it was not necessary for Levein to bring on Ian Black for the remaining five minutes of the game. |

I believe there was an element of that. Not because Levein said it - don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth - but because the Australian left back (McGowan) who plays for Hearts got the same treatment, albeit not as loudly as there will have been people booing Black for the Rangers reason as well. But there was a visible Hibs presence in the crowd - people who clearly got dressed forgetting who was actually playing that day.
