It is stated on tonight's BBC1 teletext that newco Rangers' SFA membership is in doubt.
The SFA said on Friday (20th July) that the new Rangers had agreed to a transfer embargo in return for a license to play.
BBC Scotland understands that two obstacles remain before a deal can be agreed.
Rangers want the SPL to drop their investigation into dual contracts(which is in breach of the laid down rules) and the SPL want the SFL to hand over Rangers' media rights.
In a further twist it is possible that Rangers results will be annulled for the period 2001-2010 due to undisclosed payments to players during this period.
Ally McCoist is quoted stating "Rangers will never accept being stripped of any of their titles".
If Rangers are stripped of their SPL titles then they should be stripped of any cups they have also won during this period.

its astonishing the attitude of McCoist etc as they are basically demanding that the SPL remove the proposed penalty for illegally fielding players for years. Quite astonishing how even at this stage they still act as if there was nothing wrong. Every 'penalty' they claim has been levelled have mostly been rules as applied to a new team! the only penalty has been the statutory 10 points and a fine of £160k.

Ally McCoist appears to have been attending the Sandy Jardine school of Public Relations.

I keep thinking of the Zurab episode as well. I contacted the bbc when it happened and told them that I had previously always supported Scottish teams in Europe , but that after that, I would support anyone against rangers. I still think the same. Looks like I may no longer need to do this as they won't be playing anyone.

On the other hand I think the spl have a nerve wanting to muscle in on any SFL tv deal. They threw rangers out!

Rangers are being liquidated. Rangers are no more. That is why newco has to apply to div3. Newco have never played a competitive game and have never won any trophys. Stripping rangers of titles and cups doesn't mean anything as they don't exist anymore. Former rangers players and managers and west coast papers keep banging on about rangers have been punished enough and trying to convince the public that rangers still exist. Sorry any rfc fans out there but rangers are no more. Also for former rangers people now working for newco to demand the spl enquiry into double contracts to get binned is a disgrace and shows they must have something to hide. There are clubs more deserving of a place in the sfl.

What he says !

My only problem with McCoist's (and others) stance is that if these are 2 seperate companies then why is he so concerned about his ex employers ? Thats an uncommon loyalty especially in football where people often move from club to club. Unless ofcourse he doesn't see it as 2 seperate companies...

Yes I'm also enjoying seeing oldco squirm but hope that no other clubs are adversely affected.

Looks like the SFA with SPL pressure is once again bending to the bullying of Sky and seem more interested in securing TV rights for a discredited Third Division outfit than with the integrity of Scottish Football.

The SFA/SPL axis has moved the discussions well away from the spectre of fans pressure which put paid to their little schemes to parachute newco into the SPL and then into Div One.

Who on earth do these people represent?

It seems that Rangers are refusing to hand back their SPL membership. If they don't then Dundee's membership may be affected.

The SPL should call Rangers bluff and tell them that the SPL will be reporting them to UEFA and FIFA. The SPL can easily award membership to Dundee and if SFL Division 3 has only 11 teams in it this season, then so be it.
I still think that the Charles Green consortium will try to buy a team in England so that they can parachute newco Rangers into English football. In my opinion the best newco Rangers can hope for is a Conference football club (now called the Blue Square BET Premier League) such as Stockport County FC.
Stockport County play their home games at Edgeley Park the home of Sale Sharks Rugby Union team.
Sale Sharks is owned by Brian Kennedy who is currently offering the Charles Green consortium £5.6 Million for a 51% controling interest in newco Rangers.
Although this is a lot of supposition, anything is possible and I would suggest that you watch this space.

There are currently two groups vying for the takeover of Portsmouth subject to the remaining senior players either leaving or taking a large drop in wages.

The SFA, SPL, SFL and the various versions of the team formerly known as Rangers (in admin, Rosemary's baby, Trigger's Broom FC etc) modestly hid their joint press release of one of their most creative solutions to the merging of sporting integrity and the continuation/new start of a Govan team to coincide with the Olympic Ceremony, 9pm Friday. We now have a new form of SFA membership: Conditional. Well they could have hardly called it provisional.

What I think I know is:

Rangers (in admin) have the SPL share that would enable us to play at Rugby Park on Saturday.
SEVCO are not yet owners of Rangers FC and not yet members of the SFL.
Dundee are still in the SFL because we would not presumably not resign until safely in SPL.

What I'm sure I don't know is:

Who exactly are Brechin playing today?
What will it take to get the SPL share from Rangers (IA)? SEVCO to pay monies due Rangers (IA) ie Duff & Phelps? SFA to award full membership?
The extent to which the people that run the game in Scotland will go to get to get one team back at the top.
