Does anyone know if the spl fixtures will be off the weekend before Scotlands World Cup qualifiers?
Im planning weekend trips to Dundee games so need dates to book off the Fridays from work.

Also If they are off and Rangers have players in the Scotland Squad (They Wish) will Div 3 Fixtures be off too?

No, Scotland fixtures were in place before the fixtures were done

http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/international_fixtures.cfm?page=2840

ie No SPL games on 8 Sep as Scotland play on 8 & 11 Sep
Same in October

*But games may be moved for TV

I seriously hope that any player playing in the 3rd division does not get into the Scotland squad, that would be laughable.

Shouldn't matter what league you are in. Most of Scotlands best talented players have played in the lower leagues.

Therefore why not stick Swankie and Doris in the Scotland squad they have been scoring goals for fun in the lower leagues?

Whether we like it or not, we are in a pretty unusual position with newco. They will still be the second biggest team in Scotland (fans wise) which will generate a big income. This will inevitably lead to bigger wages (not to mention the attraction for some players of playing for the zombie/phoenix rangers). I wouldn't want to rule anybody in or out of playing for Scotland, I've moaned in the past when players havn't had a call-up when they've been playing out of their skin but not for one of the 'right' clubs. It might stick in the craw a wee bit but look at the players that they're signing now before the ban kicks in.

The way the signing 'ban' has been put in place is a complete joke, they'd be as well not bothering with it.

Yes but very few get capped whilst playing at such a level and nor should any player from this lot either.

So if Lee Wallace gets capped with Rangers in the 3rd, then Montrose sign him...would he get a Scotland cap with Montrose in the 3rd? Absolutely no chance so he shouldn't get capped at all whilst playing in the 3rd.

It is so ridiculous it is a laughable decision. What happened since May at Hearts that he is suddenly in the Scotland squad after having played one drawn game in the 3rd division. All credibility is gone.

I looked at the Scotsman mobile website for match reports, the top two matches reported were a friendly played abroad and a 3rd division match. Live 3rd division commentary on Radio Scotland....it goes on...a completely Glasgow biased running of Scottish football and a completely Glasgow biased media.

apart from being a 3rd Div player, mention his name to any Scots football fan and ask to describe him and one of the first words that will be uttered is 'hacker'. The fact he is in a national team is a dreadful decision. Poor player, shocking disciplinary record, 3rd Division and he is a pick!

Blueday is absolutely spot on. Ian Black played well last season for Hearts but never got a sniff at the Scotland squad.

Another weird aspect is the fact that Levein is already on record saying that Lee Wallace couldn't expect to play for Scotland if he is playing in the 3rd division.

Also, will The Rangers start bleating if Black is called up by Scotland for a weekend international match when SPL teams aren't playing but SFL teams have games?

"You couldn't make it up" strikes again!

I am afraid that we are back to the bad old days when players were selected for the Scotland football team as soon as they were transferred to either Rangers or Celtic.

Ah now no, the poor wee man was mis-quoted he says! He only said that it would be more difficult. Certainly seems so with the Ian Black situation.

Swankie for Scotland!!!

Actually I'm not that surprised by this given the fact that Black has played all his recent football in the SPL, it's a friendly and we are short of midfielders.

However if any Rangers players are selected in 6 months time for the competitive match I will eat my hat.
