The Record are tagging their stories about United with both "Dundee United" and "Dundee FC", so any searches for United that mistakenly used "Dundee FC" will pick up the Record's story. People abroad routinely refer to United as Dundee FC. That seems daft to me, but it's clearly a deliberate decision rather than a mistake.
The problem is that when you ask for stories about us on the Record website you get everything tagged "Dundee FC", which means all the United stories. It certainly doesn't make the Record look good. That's their decision and their problem. I can live with it. |

| It's a well-beaten drum on this forum but every time I look at the Courier website there is more coverage of Raith and Dunfermline than Dundee. Often, today for example, there is no Dundee story. |

| No problem for United supporters though. Their tag doesn't bring up Dundee stories. It's so annoying having to trawl through boring headlines about United to find a story about Dundee. The problem is that search engines will look up Dundee FC and that will also pick up every story about Dundee United FC. Whoever set up their website obviously hasn't taken this into account. |

Mev,you got it! I'll try and clarify what I am getting at, go to http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/ at the top of the page are all SPL clubs logos, clicking on them links to individual clubs except ours which links to United! Guess club 12 are not their favourite:) |

good response from Daily Record!

Thanks for your email.
The problem is because of a technical issue which means the system is struggling to differentiate between Dundee stories and Dundee United stories.
The system doesn't know to exclude United stories from the Dundee page although, oddly, it seems to work fine the other way round.
We're aware of it and working to rectify it.
Our apologies.
