| There is now 5 teams who have publicly said they will vote Rangers out they are Utd, Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen and Inverness. That now means that Rangers are out and it will be between us and Dunfermline to take there place with Dundee as Bookies favorite however when it comes to scottish football and the scottish governing body i wouldnt say its a forgone conclusion that we are going up. |

people keep talking of some home-away play off decider but it would have to happen pretty quick with players barely back from a summer break.

| Not getting too far ahead of ourselves here, but if the chairmen vote as they have indicated, then Rangers will obviously not be allowed into the SPL. What is the timescale thereafter? Do they decide at the same meeting whether it's us, Dunfermline or Falkirk who are invited in or do they have to call yet another meeting? Can, as Gordon Smith suggests, Rangers withdraw their application to be in the SPL? If so, do we still have to wait until 4th July to see what's going to happen? |

No one is talking about a play off decider. The decision around what happens next comes down to the SPL.
What the SPL said a few months ago is that if Rangers were liquidated before the end of the season then Dunfermline or Hibs would stay up. BUT if Rangers are liquidated AFTER then end of the season then the 2nd placed 1st Div team would be promoted.
Rangers were liquidated AFTER the end of the season....so Dundee would be promoted. Dunfermline are relegated.

as I understand it the 4th July vote was for the New Co to be voted in or out, nothing else. The changes that the Dees or Dunfermline make to league standings and fixtures would require agreement with the SFL. So, unless some agreement is made with the SFL prior to the 4th July then some other action would be required (Maybe!).
They could always use the 4th for a vote of no confidence in Doncaster, whose actions have been at the heart of much of this farce.

I'm not holding my breath. Stephen King couldn't write a book with as many twists and turns as this. I can only assume that Santa will come down the chimney, Bob the Builder will give testimony, the monster from Aliens will emerge from the centre circle, Ainslee Harriot will emerge from the dug out to present Ready Steady Cook & to compound all matters, England will be reinstated because their shirts were 'Daz' white and, anyway, I've taken all my toys home so now there's not enough of sticks left to play Ker-Plunk.
I don't have a cynical bone in my body. |

| Surely the thing for the SPL to do is to confirm which club would replace Rangers in the event that the Newco isn't voted back in. Surely either Dunfermline or Dundee deserve the maximum amount of time to prepare for what will be a very difficult season? |

it was discussed on Sportsound last weekend. I hope it doesnt happen as timescales would be ridiculous. If they apply available rules as you list then fine. However, I have little faith in anything linked to Neil Doncaster.

| If they don't hurry and establish a team or ticket sales or sponsorship to sustain and pay players, would the 'Newco' go into administration. Just a thought |

"it was discussed on Sportsound last weekend"
Above was not discussed on Sportsound last Saturday. It WAS discussed by Tam Cowan & Stuart Cosgrove on "Off the Ball" prior to Sportsound. Tam said it should be a 2 legged winner take all match. Somehow I can't see the SPL take much notice of the Comedy Double Act (The most ill informed football show on the BBC - Their words, not mine !! |

I'm sure Jim Spence would say anything at one point, but does anyone care or even take him seriously? |

Jim's left his BBC colleagues trailing in his ginger slipstream throughout this shambles. Most of the others have been floundering, but Jim has played a great game.

What a bag of spanners more twists than tony blair, we need clarity quick, but I do not think they will provide it until the meeting on the 4th July, According to something I read we now have Dunfermline taking legal advice advising they should be voted back
I would hope now that in view of the newco vote shaping on integrity and football ,the Scottish football body announce an egm today and get the show on the road with regards to who is going up, I have posted for weeks that it was imperative we made second place, just in case,
Barry deserves it, the Dundee fans deserve it and by god I deserve it, having gone through so much pain over the last x years, with so many peaks and ?
But another day beckons and with more revelations , you just do not know, keep our powder dry, our club has, and should be complimented in that by not bowing to speculation and drama, this furore has caused, listen to on the ball , no way,!

It's down to the SPL to decide. Not Jim Spence, Cosgrove or Yorkston. If Dundee do not get promoted then we just have to accept the decision. Similarly Dunfermline have to accept it too. going to court to bleat about a decision is childish and shows Yorkston up. The reason Dunfermline are relegated is not Rangers fault. The Pars were awful that is why they are now in div1. So the SPL will decide and it is their decision to make. They are making the right decision with regards to Rangers. No one is complaining about that. After a decision is made, move on. Then one of the teams will need to move fast to pull together a team fir the SPL. |

absoulutely! e.g. the number of Rangers fans that bombarded him on twitter as lying regarding intentions of Aberdeen etc in voting. He doesnt play to fans and back page headlines. He trys to get in to the real story and writes about what he thinks is on the go.

I would still like to see a play-off between Us and Dunfermline BUT it's all academic anyway as we're going to walk the 1st Division anyway!
Keep the faith . . . Mon the Dee! |
