Phew 9 yes nine goals shipped in the last 3 games, must admit that I'm disappointed how the season has petered out! Big crowd next week?

Despite today's poor result we are still 3 points ahead of Falkirk and have a goal difference of plus 9 against Falkirk's plus 4. As usual Dundee do things the hard way. Second place should have been sewn up last week against Partick Thistle.

Hopefully we can afford a clearout. Not many of this squad worth keeping.

I agree with this. A clear out needed, I would keep about 7 of the first team now but they are also needing to improve next season. If people out there still think that we are not underperforming then I dont know how bad we have to be. I know we had chances today but still we letting in 2 many goals and making silly defensive mistakes.

I will be at Dens next week because I love my team but this season cant be over quick enough for me

Shambleswhat else can you say. Players don't give a dame about us fans do they .but the board are quick to ask us to get our season tickets for next season. And to buy stuff to . When players don't care about us.

Another very disappointing result. I wonder what the squad of 61/62 would make of our current team! I hope the following view isn't just me reacting to three bad performances in a row, but I also agree that a clearout is needed. I accept the view that we as a club have to move forward slowly and carefully but lets face it, most of us will expect a title challenge next season. Very few of the players we have are capable of getting us promoted so I would release those deemed surplus to requirements, thank them for their efforts on our behalf and try to replace them as best we can, within the financial constraints we are under. Despite the ongoing Rangers situation I don't for a second expect us to be playing in the SPL next season. But if we did go up we would be the whipping boys of the division and that would be potentially disastrous in the longer term. Only two, maybe three, of our current squad are close to SPL standard. I don't envy Barry's task over the next three months!

Unlucky today. Well worth a point but Ayr had 2 wonder strikes. Had to applaud that fantastic overhead & lot of other Dees did so too. And 2nd place looks likelier now than it did at the start of the day so doom mongers take a hike!

yes I will be there next week too. Should get goals if the 3 games with Livi so far were to go by.

Like any squad we need new blood whilst keeping some but we are leaking goals again, ending the season the way we started to some extent. All season I have felt defense is where some of our key issues are. We dont have a classic forward line but cant help thinking of games we could have nicked with a sturdier back line.

Danny - it has been obvious for some time that if we did go up with the current squad we would be STOMPED!

I hope the players realize how disheartened that result would have left us Dundee supporters feeling. To get beat with two late goals on a day we were meant to be celebrating our finest moment is absolutely scandalous. I hope they are feeling as bad about it as we are but after the obvious lack of effort in the last few games it seems to me that most of them are thinking about leaving and really couldn't care less!
It's very disappointing after the herculean efforts of last season.

After the last 3 games, let's give youth a chance, at least they will play for the jersey

Couldn't agree more.
I know Ayr were fighting relegation but to throw away a lead twice and then lose it in the final minutes to what was a scrappy goal is very poor.
We've struggled badly against teams like Ayr and results like this and our last two games show we're nowhere near being able to compete in the scenario of us getting up in place of Rangers - which I don't think will happen, although they should face football in division 3 IMO.
Barry had talked about the club trying to win the remaining games but they've lost most of them, and given us real cause for concern for next season.

Full credit to Ayr yesterday - they kept going right to the end, even looking for a 4th after taking the lead with a minute to go. Ayr seemed to want it more than us yesterday, which may be understandable given their circumstances - they have play-offs to get ready for.
Memories of our players throwing themselves into every tackle and challenging for every little scrap like their lives (and the club) depended on it (last season and for most of this season), however, are fading fast and sometimes its hard to watch.

Personally, I think Barry needs to completely revamp the squad - I would only keep 5 of the players from yesterday (Douglas, O'Donnell, Irvine, Riley and Milne. If that isn't possible he will need to rekindle the spirit from last season.

We are lucky in a way that we could only offer 1 year deals, means we can have a clear out at end of season, a lot of the current squad will be at risk im afraid, just not good enough.

Let's keep the head unlike other clubs if you are a real Dundee supporter we have to realise our history is born on patience ,

Tonight I will have the ability to share that patience with all my fellow Dundee supporters who continue each season to carry that true honesty

we have had our troubles but we have endured and come through and we will march on the Caird Hall to celebrate, ,,,,!!!!!!!

I know that Barry Smith is a calm relaxed guy and listening to him on the radio yest about made me fall asleep he was so boring to listen to, so I hope thats not the manner he talks to the players before a match or at half time etc. I loved BS as a player (Mr consistant)and I know he does not have the best resources out there but IMO he lacks passion when on the side lines, we need someone thats gonna give the players a grilling and get right behind the team from the dugout but I dont see happening enough

Personally I think all managers and coaches should stay away from the touchline as bawling and fist waving at players from the touchline achieves nothing. Where does Alex Ferguson and his coaches sit at Old Trafford, almost in the stand I would say.
Perhaps appropriate that tonight's celebration dinner is in honour of a team who's manager most definitely would not have been seen on the touchline shaking his fist at players.

It's a very overrated action methinks, and let's face it most of them do it, and you only have to look at the dross on show to realise it doesn't produce a winning or attractive team, only serving to wind players up and help them take their eye off the ball, no pun intended.

As far as Barry is concerned, from what I see he is usually very animated and vocal on the touchline.
