Nigel Quashie is a player with experience in the top two divisions in england and has already worn the Dark Blue of Scotland.
He's not a direct replacement for Gavin Rae, because they are two very different types of player. Sir Barry has yet again used the best of his abilities and scouts to attract a player with obvious quality.
I believe that players like Conroy, Riley and Chisholm will benefit from having his experience alongside them in the middle of the park.
Sure, he has been without a club since the end of the 2010 season, BUT, he has been training with clubs down south to keep his fitness up. Match fitness is a whole different ball game however. If we can get him fit, and play those 4 players in the starting 11, I reckon we could start to put pressure on the teams above us and have a slight chance of taking the league title down to the last weekend. |

We should get out of this mentality of always preparing for next season, lets try to give it a bash every season whether were down to minimal squads, administration who cares.
All available budget should be spent on boosting the squad and Finnigan could be a shrewd signing and a big boost. No offence to Bayne but i don't feel he fits into the way we play when were having a good day.
I wonder if we have any budget left for a midfielder someone like Quashie and if not what kind of wages and money are we talking about for a player to sign end of season ?. |

| I do not think that Nigel Quashie is in a strong bargaining position as he does not appear to have played senior first team football since May 2010. |

The search goes on I'm sure Barry is working tirelessly to add to the squad, roll on tomorrow, Forza Dundee ;-)

Can anyone confirm if he indeed ever arrived at Dens for talks? a trial? or a medical? |

| If we dont win against Ross County I dont see the point in throwing money away to sign him. If we dont win we wont win the league and so we would do better to use players who will be here next season. Cant see the point in signing players to the end of the season if we dont have a realistic chance of going up. I wonder if that is how he has not yet signed? |

Sounds like a bit of a defeatist attitude Euan.
Granted if we don't beat County, going up is going to be more difficult. Doesn't necessarily mean we CAN'T go up.
Nigel Quashie even until the end of the season would still be a valuable acquisition. The experience he can give to the younger lads in the squad is surely worth something?
If the club acted on a "no point signing someone if we won't get promoted" basis, we would never have been able to lure someone like Gavin Rae back to the club in October. He came back because he wanted to help the club get back to the promised land.
Has it ever been considered that Quashie might want to join us not only to help propel us up the league, but also to put himself in the shop window and show that Dundee is a club where you can get regular first team football and a chance to relaunch your career? |

| I will be surprised if we ever see Quashie at Dens and even more surprised if we win today with our threadbare squad! |

| If Quashie wants to play for us he is not going about it the right way - he should have arrived and signed by now. If he isnt 100% committed then I would suggest he doesn't bother. |

Before you say that, are you quite sure he actually has a deal on the table for him to sign, doesn't sound like we are at that stage yet. |

After our draw today, i agree with Euan that signing him would be a waste of time. Lets save the wages till next season and try to sign someone who has played competitivley in the last 12 months. 3 years ago he would have been a good signing but now not so sure. |

| I dont mean to be against Gavin Rae but the arguement that he came to get us promotion is frankly absurd as he left in January to go to SPL. He came to get noticed which benefitted us and him. |
