Dunfermline have asked the Scottish Premier League for their rationale as to why Dundee are being proposed over the Pars for a place in the top flight.
The Fife side were relegated from the SPL last season but the expected absence of Rangers would create a vacant spot in the division.
Senior Scottish football figures are proposing that Division One runners-up Dundee replace Rangers in the SPL.
And the Pars want to know the reasoning for these plans by 5 July
And again the Pars tell the Press all their plans |

Yorkston @ Pars has been sounding off from the start but, following Pars relegation, Ross County has a SPL vote not the Pars.
So hopefully the remainder of the SPL clubs will ignore Yorkston's pronouncements, especially as DFC has retained its dignity by not feeding lines to the media.
As I said in a post a while back, I think the Pars are in serious danger of financial meltdown and that is possibly what is behind Yorkston's constant carping about their right to escape relegation.
It's not an easy call on whether Pars are saved from relegation or we are promoted but I hope our dignity and lack of perceived desperation will win through.
If the boot was on the other foot I'm sure we as fans would be wanting our Board to fight for our place in the SPL especially as in Dunfermline's case they actually were in it when this mess all started. (Symantics of timing of the demise of Rangers has only gone against them staying up)
Lets not attack someone who is passionately trying to save the existance of his club. He is allowed to voice his rational, whether he's listened to is another matter after all, were we not angered and fought to try stay up because we thought Livingston had broken the rules. Kachoul affair. We were not listened to but felt a great hurt of injustice. I'm sure all associated with the Pars are feeling the same way we did back in 2004.
I'm sure other clubs fans were fed up hearing our moans as we knew going down would put us in further jeopardy. 2nd Administration proved that. We can't have a higher than thou attitude to others wanting to save their club.
Too often Scottish Football has fudged its own rules and have been treading a fine line between prejudiced decisions and maintaining its Football integrity.
I personally have doubted Scottish Football's integrity for many years, who else would have agreed to letting two clubs have a monopoly of the decision making with such a misaligned voting structure?
My own view is any newco should be forced to start from scratch and those in power in Scottish Football should take a good look at themselves and ask what would they have done if it was any other Club that had been found to be in the difficulties Rangers are in.
They should remove the name Rangers from their minds and insert Gretna, Third Lanark, Clydebank and ask what would they have done then. Too simplistic?
Lets face it if the Newco had the backing of the Oldco (50,000 fans) they would march through the leagues as they would be debt free with all revenue going to the Football side. Is it the fact they fear Rangers fans maybe fickle and feel no affinity with any newco therefore the (50,000) becomes significantly less therefore reducing their power to march through the leagues?
Agree with all you say! I guess the names were put in a hat? we were drawn and now we must Accept our punishment and play in the SPL:) |

Posted - 01 July 2012 : 13:26:15 I know we are going around in circles with this but remember that the independent panel that found against Rangers (around March I think?) accused them of being close to 'match fixing', including last season, due to a deliberate policy of signing and playing players they were in no position to actually pay for whilst manipulating accounts for PAYE etc.
'Match fixing' is a pretty strong phrase to appear in any summing up. Dunfermline and Rangers did indeed complete all their fixtures but only one of them has such a phrase appearing in any documented assessment of how they acted over last season.

Posted - 01 July 2012 : 12:00:48 In my opinion, I find it difficult to agree that Dunfermline think they should stay in the SPL.
Rangers completed ALL fixtures last season as did every other team including Dunfermline.
Rangers went in to liquidation AFTER the season finished and NOT before.
Dundee completed all fixtures in the first division and finished runners up. Dunfermline completed all fixtures in the SPL and were relegated.
Both SPL and SFL campaigns were completed - promotions and relegations should stand as it is.
Therefore, in my mind, Dundee have the overriding right to be in the SPL over and above Dunfermline who were relegated after the completion of last season. I still think that Rangers should be playing in Division 3 and that reconstruction has to take place which should not be held to ransom. |

Posted - 01 July 2012 : 10:46:01 Like highway star says I dont agree with the proposal of letting Rangers into div 1. However the SPL have clearly chosen Dundee for the replacement. I would rather we are promoted than another team. Just like fans of all other div 1 teams including Dunfermline. I cant see any reason we would not accept it. If the SPL did choose another team then we would just have to accept it. It is simply a vote after all with each SPL member voting as they see fit. Someone calling a ballot vote illogical doesnt make sense. So if the majority vote for Dundee, we accept it. If not then fair enough, we didnt get enough votes.

I stand by what I said at least a month ago, that our recent financial problems, will count against us. I expect Dunfermline to be invited back.
The one thing against that is the fact that the SPL/SFL proposal clearly states Dundee as the team to go up(although I am completely against the overall proposal). Someone in the SFL/SPL clearly rubber stamped that as part of the proposal.

Posted - 30 June 2012 : 00:57:16 wirraldee is spot on. They are holed below the line financially and are scrambling for the lifeboat they thought had gone. Not surprised Yorkston is doing this, we would do the same. The fact we were listed as the team to go up in the SFL/SPL plan sits there like the proverbial elephant in the room for Dunfermline. |

Posted - 29 June 2012 : 22:02:56 The SPL make the decision and no one else. Its a big mistake to threaten the SPL if you don't agree with their decision, they need to be able to decide without non-member pressure/threats. What are these Pars guys thinking - honestly total amateurs, no wonder they did so badly last season. The board and their supporters need to rethink their whole strategy because their current thinking is not working. |

Posted - 29 June 2012 : 21:48:40 Should have nothing to do with attendence. That arguement leads to one rule of the bigger clubs and one rule for the smaller clubs. We cant have it both ways- eiether the right decision is made based on sporting integrity or it is based on the size of the club, which is how The Rangers are getting all these chances. I see nothing wrong with Dunfermline asking questions about the rationale behind the SPL proposals. I read commentt today in the Aberdeen P & J attributed to both our Cheif executive and the Dunfermline manager |

Posted - 29 June 2012 : 21:41:18 My opinion of Dunfermline's board's constant press releases and demands to the Football authority's (they even gave the SPL a deadline to respond. 4th july ) is simple.
Like most people I think that people who shout a lot usually have nothing worth hearing to say.
