Posted - 29 June 2012 : 17:24:37 Green Said it Loud and clear re: Brown, Whyte, yellow, pink etc..
Former Rangers player John Brown this week announced he was leading a group looking to buy the club and encouraged fans to invest in his consortium rather than buying season tickets.
Green Said ... "It's not right that every two weeks a Mel Gibson appears, delivers a Braveheart statement, then doesn't deliver anything."
Haha Sums up Bomber Browns empty bid :) |

Am I the only one to notice that Rangers seem to have colourful owners (or potential owners) at the moment - in more ways than one in some cases: Whyte, Green and now Brown? :)
Seriously, I've a lot of respect for Bomber so I hope it works out for him. As a side-note I love the Wikipedia entry for him that says Rangers signed him "in January 1988 as a promising youngster" - he was 26 when he signed for Rangers ;)

Posted - 28 June 2012 : 22:17:04 there is, on YouTube, film of the speech he made to fans at the doors of Ibrox. I have to say it was rambling, shambolic, spotted with swear words by himself. It was so bad that I began to wonder if he had been set-up by someone. I cannot believe that serious investors to Rangers could put that out as representing their business face. Embarassing.

With players etc, no real clarity with Green , very difficult times ahead,
With any luck it might force this lot out of Scottish football. |

Posted - 22 June 2012 : 20:01:42 According to today's Scottish Sun newspaper Stephen Mckenna who is part of the latest consortium to try to take over Rangers has pulled out of trying to take over Rangers because he would need an extra £20 Million to secure the club's future. The Sun states that Mr Mckenna's firm was taken to court by HMRC in 2010 over an unpaid tax bill of almost £80,000. In yesterday's Sun there was a photograph of Mr McKenna wearing a Celtic jersey after paying £15,000 to play in the Celtic team which played in the Phil O'Donnell tribute match in 2008. highway_star. Gerry. Thank you for putting up the EBT Beneficiaries link on the Forum. I am sure that you will have seen that Pedro Mendes was signed by Walter Smith in 2008 for £3M and transferred to Vitoria Guimaraes in 2010 for £1M. Pedro Mendes received £1 Million from the Murray Group Remuneration Trust.

Posted - 16 June 2012 : 23:49:08 Here is a link for the EBT beneficiaries:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-18148818
Remarkable number of players identified as having side letters that, it has been judged, were never sent to the SFA, hence illegal dual contracts. Despite all of this, the SPL has once again postponed the investigation.
Others have spotted too that the total EBT's accounted for as payed out by Rangers 1872-2012 is greater than the amounts totalled on the BBC web site. Where are the other millions? who had it and why is the evidence to account for the money missing?

Posted - 16 June 2012 : 20:47:26 I suggest that you type in "ebt beneficiaries" to your search engine and click on the BBC News web page which shows the EBT table for Rangers. It is amazing who were beneficiaries from the Murray Group Remuneration Trust. One of those was Carlos Cuellar who signed for Rangers in 2007 and was transferred to Aston Villa in 2008. According to the BBC website table he received £448,255 which is not bad for one season at Rangers. I am sorry but I do not know how to copy and paste. |

Posted - 16 June 2012 : 20:25:41 a cynical business reason would be to let Green take the hit for the buy-out (because they knew for months the CVA would never happen) then lean on him big time to force him out and buy Rangers back on the cheap. He would no doubt be helped by a fan base that hounded the US bidder and the usual lackys in the sport press, some of whom, if the Daily Record is to go by, are salivating at the thought of The Rangers being run by faces from the same group that ran the EBT scams. Scottish football justice in action. |

Posted - 16 June 2012 : 19:54:59 I am surprised that Jim McColl and Douglas Park are part of the Walter Smith consortium. Messrs McColl and Park were previously mentioned as being part of the Blue Knights consortium. |

Posted - 16 June 2012 : 18:25:20 always thought Smith was a jovial, happy guy when he was winning but the venom really showed when the tables turned, if he is up for a serious offer to own this new and historyless club THE rangers, why didn't he bid earlier, was he unaware of the plight his now defunct ex club was in?quote: Originally posted by highway_star
I think there is confusion with timelines here. Rangers didnt run an EBT scheme in the late 90's. It was a different operation (Discounted Tax Option) and Rangers were done for two players in the scheme for not paying tax (Flo and de Boer). The EBT operation came later, 2001-2010. The sainted Smith was manager 2007-2012.
I have no evidence of Dundee running tax avoidance schemes over this period. Maybe they did in which case they must have been very good at it. The reason I write this is because this club as a Company has been in the hands of Administrators more times than any of us care to remember! I am sure the accounts would have flagged up some horror stories had they been there.
Indeed, Dundee have never been raided by the Fraud Squad either as far as I know. Which of course happened to Rangers FC (1873-2012) in 2008 with some very dodgy dealings regarding the sale of Jean-Alain Boumsong from Rangers to Newcastle. Of course the manager of Newcastle at that time was the equally sainted Graeme Souness. But thats another story.
