Posted - 23 May 2012 : 09:50:18 On BBC1 tonight at 8pm there is a programme about Rangers headed "Who sold the Jerseys". This programme should be very interesting as it is presented by the same person who "blew the whistle" about Craig Whyte's 7 year ban as a Company Director when it was televised last October. |

I would be interested to know which Bank of Scotland employee granted this loan. I would have thought that a loan of £6 Million would have to be authorised at board level.
It has become clear that over the years Murray, far from funding Rangers with his own money as he always says, was being bank rolled by a key fund manager in HBOS.
There have been some serious investigations by fraud squads and the police (Operation Hornet) in to this fund manager that has pointed to very corrupt practice in how funding and the associated debt was simply written off for years. The list of investors is wide to say the least.
If you have nothing better to do (!), here is an excellent time line of events over 2001/2008 in the down fall of HBOS. Note the growing links from around 2004 and financial disaster looming with Murray International Holdings, Rangers and the SPL:

Its no wonder that when Lloyds took over the shell of HBOS in 2008 that they looked at the debt associated with Rangers and decided sorry lads, yer teas oot!
As a footnote, the financial demise of Livingston makes for interesting reading too regarding how it was bank rolled to near oblivion by the same investment strategies.

Posted - 27 May 2012 : 20:08:22 dundeemanonislay. As the topic is TV Programme - Who Sold The Jerseys I would have thought you would have realised that this topic is about Glasgow Rangers. Of course you made be not be one of the 550,000 viewers who watched the programme on BBC Scotland last Wednesday night (23rd May 2012). |

Oh yes, I forgot to say, in addition, RFC should be stripped of every honour they have won since 2001, therefore we'll have the 2003 Scottish Cup thank you very much. Still one trophy ahead of the arabs.

Posted - 27 May 2012 : 14:43:25 So you want to instigate an investigation into the whole of Scottish football simply because your beloved rangers are totally guilty of years of wrongdoing? The main problem with the rangers fiasco is the sheer scale of it and the seeming belief that they should skate free cos of who they are.quote: Originally posted by dundeemanonislay
I was just asking the questions, I didnt realise this was topic where you are only allowed to be critical of Rangers ,
on a previous thread I had raised the question of an investigation into RBTS which covered all of scottish football , but this was mocked by some others who were adamant that there was only one club involved my arguement being that if Rangers were doing it was extremely likely that others had been doing the same , and low and behold the other half of the brothers grimm have had a go as well. and in fact in England there are othere clubs who have been doing exactly the same as rangers and are waiting with interest on the result of the rangers appeal with HMRC.
there is currently no evidence that other scottish clubs have had EBTs' but is that because there hasnt been an investigation?

Posted - 26 May 2012 : 18:47:49 One technical point on the Celtic EBT. It was set up for Juninho towards the end of the season and there is the possibility that he played almost no games under the EBT - barring a cup match - then left over the summer, I think. But as far as spirit of the game and everything, if the EBT infringed rules then yes, let it be. Again, what is your point compared to the enormous scale of what was being carried out at Rangers?

well, yes it should if it was illegal. Whats your point? again, you make the mistake of erm Rangers fans, who keep pointing at others about 'having an EBT'. EBT's are legal but not if you run them as nothing more than a tax evasion scam. If it was the case for Celtic and that involved the cup back then or any league game, then yes. No problem with that judgement. Again, what is the point you are making? other than why am I being done for shop lifting, what about aw the other shop lifters! its no fair!
By the way, when Celtic realised EBT's were open to question they closed it and dealt with HMRC about it at the time (and paid back the tax). Rangers actually continued to use it.
In addition, as far as I am aware there is no evidence of any other team in the SPL using an EBT to pay people that werent employed by the club for years! Clear evidence of being 'at it'.
One final note, this entire horror story is based around the corruption that has driven Rangers close to destruction, involving some of the key players on its board for years. Yet, you come on here and start talking about Celtic. Remarkable.

Posted - 26 May 2012 : 17:15:13 Surely the appropriate punishment for 20 years of cheating, fiddling, breaking SFA and SPL rules etc, is to be completely expelled from these organisations, and run out of Scottish football for good? Mind you, Duff @ Phelps may yet do accomplish this and save the authorities the bother. |

Posted - 26 May 2012 : 15:51:38 Another moral issue is that all these highly paid indiviuals in receipt of an EBT were paying little or no tax therefore contributing nothing to our society. I trust they used schools, hospitals (probs went private and club paid that too!), roads, and all the other things that those of us on PAYE have to pay for. Shocking! |

Posted - 26 May 2012 : 00:28:47 Duff & Phelps have probably never been administrators of a football club and have never checked the rules laid out by FIFA and UEFA. |

Posted - 26 May 2012 : 00:03:15 If they are in SPL next year with no penalties and Gattuso and Black in midfield then other teams should refuse to play them - or maybe they'll all just carry on in the interest of a short term buck. fans? Who needs 'em! Let me guess what's more likely..... |

Posted - 25 May 2012 : 20:26:53 Rangers are going to Court of Session over the 12 month signing ban. This is interesting as rules, as laid out by FIFA and UEFA that we must adhere to, clearly state that any club taking football related issues to a civil court are immediately relegated/thrown out of the league.
Just where is all of this leading to? they are either stupid or - in line with the last 20 years - trying to manipulate things.

Posted - 25 May 2012 : 00:34:14 Grant. HMRC wanted their own administrators but the judges at the Court of Session in Edinburgh ruled that Craig Whyte could appoint his own choice of administrator. Several weeks ago on a previous topic I said that the judges at the Court of session should "hang their heads in shame" in deciding that Duff & Phelps (Craig Whyte's preferred administrator) be appointed administrator at Rangers FC. |

Posted - 24 May 2012 : 23:34:37 What happened at Dundee, Livingston, Gretna etc was financial mismanagement. What has been happening at Rangers is criminal. They should be relegated to the third division. Smaller clubs get hammered for mismanagement whilst Rangers get away with downright fraud. Why any right minded individual would think it okay for them to reform as a newco then come straight into the SPL is beyond me! |

Posted - 24 May 2012 : 22:37:16 the thing is that if they have been paying out secret secondary contracts it doesnt actually matter if they win or lose the EBT case. If they win, they are still guilty of paying players via illegal contracts. They lose, they are guilty of illegal contracts and of an ENORMOUS tax dodging scheme.

Posted - 24 May 2012 : 17:45:44 It should now be apparent that they have systematically, bent, evaded and cheated the system for years and in the process dragged the name of Scottish football into the mire, to say nothing of the behaviour of their fans across Europe. Well done to the investigator for a job well done and lets hope that justice will, eventually, be served. |
