My eyes must be deceiving me because I'm sure i just read that Dundee are to charge £297 for a season ticket for the first division.

And to spin around a 20% increase as a "small discount" is ridiculous. On top of the attempts to make it look like we've sold 25 bonds on top of the £100k announcement we already annlounced when we didn't.

The club are treating its fans like idiots.

You can talk about all the discounts in the world but the fact remains that charging £300 a year to watch first division football is bang out of order. Some people couldn't care less about their wife getting a gym membership or going to ice hockey. They have a certain amount of money from their hard earned wages that they can put towards going to the football and that's that.

A 17 year old can get a ST at Tannadice for less than half what it costs at Dens.

A student can get one for £12 less across the road and get an extra game.

You also get around 14 discounts with a ST for Tannadice.

How is this helping to attract new fans and stay competitive with rivals who can offer a higher standard of football to watch?

I will probably end up getting another season ticket because I love the club and want to see the team play but will be cancelling my DFCTV
subscription because I can't afford both.

I cannot believe that the DFCSS reps on the board have allowed this to happen.

HI Dite

I did say in my earlier posting that you can contact us at the club regarding the matter.

Many Thanks
Verity

I emailed Andesong and a secretary of a Dundee FC supporters club whom both though it shocking of my treatment and support my decision. BTW it has nothing to do with season tickets

Unfortunately OTT censorship is becoming more and more common on this forum.

Correction.
The last paragraph should read;
This system is "tried and tested".
About 35 years ago the age limit for the Senior Championship at Downfield Golf Club was raised one year at a time from 50 to 55. I know one member who kept missing out by one year until he qualified to play in it when he was 55.

Jim.
It would not benefit anyone turning 60 this year. If your 61st birthday falls on the 31st of July 2012 then you would qualify for a concession ticket and if your birthday was on 2nd August 2012 you would not. The cut-off date has to fall somewhere.
At present if someone aged 62 has a OAP season ticket they will receive the concession rate until they are 65, whereas someone aged 62 purchasing a season ticket for the first time will have to pay the full rate.

Douglas, not sure how that would benefit anyone turning 60 this year and hoping to buy a senior ticket.
They wouldn't be 61 at the start of 2012-13 and they wouldn't be 62 at the start of 2013-14, etc.
I suppose it would benefit anyone turning 61 before August this year but if your birthday falls on July 31 you're stuck with paying the full whack for the next five years.
By that time the board will probably have raised the age limit to 67.

As U Turns are all the rage at present (Pasty Tax) perhaps the Dundee FC Board of Directors would do likewise concerning the fans aged 60 and over. On a previous post I suggested that the age for concessionary season (OAP) tickets and walk in prices be increased to 61 for season 2012-13. In season 2013-14 the age would be increased to 62 and so on until 2016-17 when the age would be 65.
Perhaps some of the directors who read the Forum would like to post their comments to my suggestion.
Incidently this suggestion is of no benefit to me as I am aged 58.

The only good news I can find is about the qualifying age for a senior ticket. Apparently it does not apply to existing senior ticket holders so if you are 62 and have a season ticket then you will only have to pay £147 but new applications will not qualify for a senior season ticket until 65

Whatever the reasons for Dite's stance are, I hope he can come to some sort of settlement with the club as I would hate to see someone who's been so fantatical and gone over and above the call of duty for the club so many times drift away.

If you are unhappy then don't buy a season ticket but not going at all? Isn't that a wee bit extreme?

My reasons have not been put on by Admin. I had replied to bratt75 and andersong

Through all the trials and tribulations the club has seen in the last 10 years, we still have a club to support and for that I am thankful, we as fans have ploughed a lot of money into the club, some their own time and money, we are now a fan owned club and makers of our own destiny.

I am maybe one of the lucky ones who can just about afford an adult & child Season Ticket, if this money goes to bring in a fresh face or help retain the services of another, so be it, BS has a budget in line with any other business and I for one am happy to contribute to this budget.

Barry is a young developing manager and has a good back-room team behind him, we should try and give him the best possible funding for the coming season.

Nobody is happy when prices rise, but that's the way it is, some will pay some won't and each will have a different reason for not paying i.e. unemployed, work commitments, holiday's, principle, not happy with the re-signings, new signings, communication, add-ons and so on, at the end of the day we all have the right to choose.

I have chosen.

Hi Dite, may I ask you what the principle behind your decision is? IMO the club are trying to raise sufficient funds to hopefully get us into SPL and the price rise is to be expected in that case. I too, as a season ticket holder, am not happy about paying extra, especially as I wont benefit much from the add-ons (unless we get promoted and I'll happily take the roll back offer.)
I agree that the change of age in OAP tickets isn't ideal but existing season ticket holders are protected. As we are a fan led club, I hope that not many others follow your example or we really will be stuck where we are with little revenue.
Hope you reconsider.....

I have tried to remain away from this post but no longer, we must count our chickens in all this debate, we have a very solid back room staff now, and a very industrious and genuine team of people both on and off the park we are in a reasonably better state than for many a long time and we have corporate governance through out , we have aspirations with in the fan base of course we do, but the only way to support this and place us back where we belong is to show the committment which will allow a good solid team on the park with some depth in the squad.

There also maybe changes within the league set up and Dundee must be around to take up that opportunity, it will be another a tough season, and we must get off to a very good start ,of that there is no doubt, but in bs we probably have a real manager for the future let's be there when he lifts that trophy at the end of the season.

The season tickets present value, and yes everybody will perhaps deliberate, before coughing up but you know it makes sense, I drive from fife to dens get my feet under the table at penman , meet my mates, no beer which is tough, but enjoy the crack and then head home with an average of a point a game , listen to
Traynor on the radio, a great day oot !
