Posted - 26 February 2012 : 17:34:12 As mentioned on another topic... next year will be our 120th year and sadly 40 years since our last major trophy. While our 120th is something to celebrate i thought it would be a great idea to mark both these occasions by the club releasing a replica of the classic 1973 design.Hopefully be a money earner for the club.Anyway just a thought! |

Posted - 05 March 2012 : 21:16:11 That sounds magic! The Dees winning the League Cup and then going to see the Faces with Rod the sod. The Faces were a terrific band - almost as classy as the Dees in the early 70s! |

Posted - 04 March 2012 : 17:28:56 I've posted regarding that unforgetable day before. My mate and I had tickets for the Rod Stewart and The Faces concert at the Apollo later that night, missed the last train home and had to spend a freezing night wandering the streets of central Glasgow. We didn't get home until lunchtime on the Sunday, well worth it though! |

I think pistols at dawn outside Dens is the only way out of this.
An outrage!

Posted - 03 March 2012 : 21:39:29 tayportdee. I suggest that you take a look at YouTube. Type in Dundee FC and go to Page 13 where you will see the goal for yourself. Bobby Wilson takes a free kick just inside the Celtic half, Gordon Wallace takes the ball on his chest turns as it drops and drills it into the Celtic net. After you have watched the goal on YouTube I and numerous other Dundee supporters on the Forum will be looking forward to your apology. I just hope that Gordon Wallace does not look at the forum. |

Posted - 02 March 2012 : 11:34:08 From the rangers end, in the sleet, with guys threatening us and my poor eye sight, I stand by my memory. I also think that Englebert Humperdink will have a Xmas number one. |

Posted - 02 March 2012 : 01:02:22 Tayportdee - yer wrang!! Free kick from Robert Wilson straight up the field to Wallace who took it on his chest and turned in one movement and drilled it into the corner of the net - Ally Hunter did'nt go the wrong way ,in fact his left hand was about a foot away when it crossed the line........same corner as Geordie Nemzadzi's goal in Scottish Cup semi v.I'Ness |

Posted - 01 March 2012 : 16:03:35 Before the cupties in the 1973-74 season a small boy used to hand Thomson Allan a silver cardboard cut out of a cup. Is that small boy who will be in his early 40's still going to the games at Dens. |

Posted - 01 March 2012 : 12:40:40 Wallace fell over and sclaffed the ball past the goalie going the wrong way. Best goal ever and I was there. |

Posted - 01 March 2012 : 08:27:27 Ah, the great days of being a Dee! We really should have won the Scottish Cup that year. My Dad took me to the away games against Aberdeen and Rangers, when we won both. Then the replay at home to Hibs, who were a fantastc side back then. We won the lot, along with an away game to Celtic , but lost to Celtic in tne semi. My Dad didn't go to the final but I remember Arthur Montford speaking about it on Scotsport. I'm sure they showed Gordon Wallace's goal. That era was very special and the Dee side of the early 70s was one of our best - and the strip matched our class! |

Lets all go back to Glasgow on an unheated train; trudge through to the national toilet via several scary pubs; get threatened by the friendly locals when Gordon God Wallace swivels and scores.
Dance a jig in the puddles outside Hampden - have a wee bit skirmish on the blue train with a few of the hoops fans who (surprise - surprise), didnt like losing)
Buy a load of cans of overpriced Dryboroughs Export (it was ah they hud)in this offy near Queen St station, that had bars on the doors, bars on the windows and bars on the counter. The guy that seved us had more scars than an icerink!
Sung all the way back to Tay Bridge and spilled out into the Club Bar- then back to the Ferry wotchin the highlights on a black and white telly in the mates bedroom. His mum comes up and askes us to cut the noise after the tenth chorus of Nah, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah - hey hey hey Gordon Wallace!
Chipper still open ; double red puddin suppers and dreamin of European glory afore the withchin hour.
Hi Andy Remember it well Paticulary the disgruntled local who took a dive at us and, being well bladdered, staggered and fell down the stairs of the main stand. Hope he's still got the bruises! Don't recall my mum getting on to us but will ask when I see her on Sunday.
Ron, If I remember correctly, it wasn't your house we were in - it was the abode of one Frank S, of Motor bike in cafe and betrothed wanting to give you breakfast in bed fame!
Aye those were the days! |

Love it. My dad wouldn't take me to the game 'cos he said it would be off - never spoke to him for at least a week. Probably the only time we really fell out!!
Oh for the days of Wallace and Scott in their prime!! Joy. |
