Ross County match called off tonight, this could help us as they have a bit of a backlog of fixtures to be played!

Why are we wasting time discussing Ross County on the Dundee section of the website? Could this not go to other football matters?

Ross County fans knew that they would have long journeys to support their team at away games when they applied to join the Scottish Football Leagues.

Could Dundee take 6% of its population to away games???? Even taking in to account there are 2 clubs in Dundee we are way behind Ross County in relation to fans attending games.

yes but they are not Dingwall FC they are .....Ross County FC.....the clue is in the name! the population of Ross and Cromarty is nearer 50,000 according to one website i googled.

Still, given that its over 3hours to every away game their travelling support deserves a medal!

You are correct that the population in Ross and Cromarty is near 50,000 but look at the size of the area, fans would have to travel a hell of a lot further to get to Dingwall (over 100 mile round trips!!) than most Dundee fans do to get to Dens.

I bet Ross county benefited from the amalgamation of caley and thistle. There is no way that the jaggie fans would go to support the new Caley team.

Dingwall is the town that Ross COUNTY play home games in but they draw support from Ross-shire which has a population of circa 50,000,basically all north of the Kessock bridge, but quite a few in inverness and south chose to follow County for a variety of reasons, that said it's points on the board that count not bums on seats, at the end of the day they mean hee haw in relation to team performance.

That's all well and good but if you take in to account, the amount of clubs in the surrounding areas then Ross County's catchment for fans is huge in comparison to Dundee who have to compete with 6 other clubs within half an hour drive.

Sometimes I get so fed up hearing us speak about our great fans and belittling other teams with less supporters. Sounds like at times some Celtic & Rangers supporters belittling the rest of Scottish football because we cant match there support or influence.

I'm not belittling their fans but do think they deserve a better away support.

They have a multi-millionaire builder as a director. We don't. Elgin City are the biggest highland club historically yet are languishing in the third division. They don't of course have any multi-millionaires on the board. Having a great fan base though should make a difference!

Living in Elgin I do think that City deserve the kind of financial backing that County have had. I also believe that if they did have the kind of success County have managed then they would be getting a much bigger home support than County are currently getting at the top of the first division.

Like most clubs their fans can turn out for big events such as a cup final. Ross County had 17,000 fans at the 2010 Scottish Cup Final

Isn't there something morally wrong about a club that can't raise a bus-load of supporters for away games sitting top of the league?

No because they're top of the league because of results on the park.

Think there might be more Dee's than Staggies on the A9 tomorrow.
Probably more dead deer than Staggies on the road down!
Me and the HDBs Cahirman, Mark Kerr, heading off at 8am for the Supporters Club's meeting at 11am.
Last Chance Saloon tomorrow!

John.

Indications are that we will be able to comfortably house the Staggies travelling support in the away dressing room shower cubicle (I dont suppose it has altered since the Football Aid game in 2002!)

Dundee play County twice and so do Falkirk, that is where promotion will be won and lost, all 3 teams will continue to drop points but these games will ultimatly decide promotion

Falkirk and Ross County only play each other once more now before the end of the season..

The sending off at Dingwall changed a game that I am confident Dundee were going to win. County weren't looking confident until that happened. If we get right into them from kick off and get an early goal then you never know. It isn't Celtic we're playing!
