Great signing if it can be pulled off and a great replacement for Gavin Rae.

Fingers crossed he will do the good thing and sign

Can we get some "official" word as to whether this deal is dead and buried or are the papers filling space with rumours again??

Yes,

Barry spoke about the deal when we were up to interview him for preview.

Thanks Tommy :-)

Nigel's not coming now for family reasons. Ah well, the family has to come first. Would have been nice though! All the best for the future!

According to the Scotsman, Quasie is not happening!

"Dundee’s proposed move for former Scotland international Nigel Quashie is off after the player said he is staying down south for family reasons."
billy wee Posted - 02 March 2012 : 11:07:49
He is not joining . Papers say he decided to stay in london for family reasons
J-Artero Posted - 02 March 2012 : 10:33:58
Heard on the radio this morning that Quashie isnt signing due to family reasons. Pity
powerlifer Posted - 28 February 2012 : 16:54:57
We may lose a substantial amount of our playing squad, having a fit Quashie for next season giving him some in the process of this one, might not be a bad idea.

Could lose O'donnell, riley etc.

Deal agreed in principal according to Dfc scot on twitter issue at players end holding things up

Looks like baz may still be keen , he is waiting on Nigel to do something but would have to agree with the reido15 .. promotion push is were we need him.
reido15 Posted - 28 February 2012 : 12:01:39
Have to say that unless this is a signing for next season, unless he appears for the weekend's game, what's the point ? Presumably this was part of a promotion push, but with Ross County likely to beat Ayr tonight, if Quashie does sign soon, and is only to be here til the end of the season, the whole thing becomes pointless, no ?
alanrey25j Posted - 27 February 2012 : 12:36:36
Was he up at weekend? Any developments?
Euan Posted - 25 February 2012 : 22:12:40
I dont mean to be against Gavin Rae but the arguement that he came to get us promotion is frankly absurd as he left in January to go to SPL. He came to get noticed which benefitted us and him.

Cant see the point in signing players to the end of the season if we dont have a realistic chance of going up. I wonder if that is how he has not yet signed

After our draw today, i agree with Euan that signing him would be a waste of time. Lets save the wages till next season and try to sign someone who has played competitivley in the last 12 months. 3 years ago he would have been a good signing but now not so sure.
alanrey25j Posted - 25 February 2012 : 17:52:27
There are so few games left is there any point to signing him now?

Before you say that, are you quite sure he actually has a deal on the table for him to sign, doesn't sound like we are at that stage yet.

I will be surprised if we ever see Quashie at Dens and even more surprised if we win today with our threadbare squad!
Bearded-Dee Posted - 25 February 2012 : 11:48:15
Sounds like a bit of a defeatist attitude Euan.

Granted if we don't beat County, going up is going to be more difficult. Doesn't necessarily mean we CAN'T go up.

Nigel Quashie even until the end of the season would still be a valuable acquisition. The experience he can give to the younger lads in the squad is surely worth something?

If the club acted on a "no point signing someone if we won't get promoted" basis, we would never have been able to lure someone like Gavin Rae back to the club in October. He came back because he wanted to help the club get back to the promised land.

Has it ever been considered that Quashie might want to join us not only to help propel us up the league, but also to put himself in the shop window and show that Dundee is a club where you can get regular first team football and a chance to relaunch your career?
